2003 Meritage
A deep, dark cherry red color with seductive aromas of blackcurrant, vanilla and chocolate. The palate is dry, full bodied, with high but fine tannins giving structure. Concentrated and intense on the palate, showing overall harmony, and long length. It drinks well now but will improve for 3-5 years.

2002 Meritage
Darkest red colour. A classic full flavoured Bordeaux style wine that features rich berry fruit and elegant development. The bouquet ornaments mouthfilling berry fruit with chocolate and coffee complexities and it is followed by generous outgoing berry fruit flavours knit with fully integrated oak, all framed by the smoothest of tannins. The finesse of this wine has brought together the best of its noble vinifera constituents. Winner of Best of Class in both the Pacific Rim and L.A. County Fair wine competitions.

2001 Meritage
This is a lean, firm wine, relflecting the cooler vintage. the aromas are earthy and peppery. The bright fruit flavours -- cherries, currants and even cranberries -- make this quite a vivacious wine on the palate.
2000 Meritage
This is an exceptional wine from a very good vintage. It begins with a powerful and attractive aroma suggesting plums and black currants and spice. A wine of brooding ripeness, it just fills the mouth with flavours -- again plums, spice, licorice, leather, with an underlying sweetness to the fruit. The texture is full and round and polished. The finish is quite persistent. The wine is probably at its peak but has the structure to hold that peak for another five years.

Compare Late Harvest to Icewine in this unique selection, all packaged in a wooden gift box and signed by the winemaker.

Late Harvest grapes are picked after the main harvest, waiting for that extra measure of ripeness and sugars produced through warm autumns, dry conditions or noble rot. Late Harvest Wines contain lower concentrations of sugars and acids than Icewine. Icewine is harvested at temperatures below -8 Celsius, so the sugars, acids and flavours slowly drip out, leaving the water as ice in the press. A natural concentration of flavours is the result.

Riesling Late Harvest is intense and fruity with hints of peach, nectarine and green apple in the bouquet. The flavour finishes with a honeyed character. Riesling Icewine's sweetness is balanced by intensity of flavour and acidity. Aromas of apricot, honey and green apple are followed by flavours of the same. Best enjoyed as a dessert on its own.

Cabernet Franc Late Harvest can be enjoyed before dinner with cheese and fruit, or after dinner. It offers aromas of currants, blackberries and cherries and with flavours of complex soft tannins. Red Icewines are unique. You'll find rich soft tannins resulting from a symphony of flavours! Likened to a liqueur, Icewine is often best as a dessert by itself, but in the case of the Cabernet Franc it would be a dreamy delight with chocolate, nuts and aged cheese.

This wine is undoubtedly Zinfandel, displaying many aromas and characters that one would expect. This "Mom's raspberry freezer jam and fresh white pepper," - and odd combination perhaps, but it sure works well here. The texture is soft, not sweet, - has fine tannins, not bitterness, and is mouth-filling, not fat. As always, with food,- preferably something savory, thyme, rosemary, etc....

2005 Black Arts Chardonnay –Six Bottle Collection

The Black Arts label could be considered to be our own form of a reserve wine. The term “Black Arts” is a nod to the often mysterious, serendipitous process of the winemaker’s passionate art in combination with the science involved in making the great wines.

Typical of South Okanagan Chardonnay, this wine shows a big tropical bouquet which, surprisingly, shows as a lean minerality on the palate. There is a strong flavour and texture of grapefruit zest that will likely persist for several years. The finish is flinty and long (30+ steamboats!). The wine will taste great in virtually any situation, but really, it would be a tragedy to have it without food. Think fish. Think Butter. Think rich.

“A Noble Blend” was made in the spirit of Edelzwicker or Gentil , the traditional Germanic-varietal blend of the Alsace region of France. Our original intent in choosing to produce this proprietary blend was our knowledge that many of the oldest plantings in this valley were Germanic varietals which have proven to be extremely successful in this climate. Much of the 2006 A Noble Blend originates from older plantings and these mature vines tend to be naturally lower in yield and produce more complex and intensely flavoured grapes. Blending allows us to utilize the different characteristics of each variety (or of the same variety from different sites) in order to help us achieve natural balance as well as adding greater complexity to the wine. The 2006 Noble Blend is a blend of Gewürztraminer, Pinot Blanc, Kerner, Ehernfelser and Riesling.

The menus and essays in the book reveal the “birth” of this new wine country cuisine in the Okanagan and allow the reader to recreate some of the flavors of this emerging wine country.

With a literal lay of the land, Heidi introduces local producers and showcases their products in her menus. The recipes are divided into the courses of Joie's typical orchard dinners and aim to reveal the harmony between the regional wines and the dishes created for them.

Portfolio 2005 is a blend of Merlot 59%, Cabernet Sauvignon 33%, Malbec 4%, Cabernet Franc 3% and Petit Verdot 1%. The wine is aged 20 months in 40% new French Oak barrels.

The result is a classic wine that begins with cocoa, almond and cassis on the nose. Velvety raspberry and dark chocolate flavours integrate with dry tannins on the palate and complete with a full-bodied finish. The new varietals of Malbec and Petit Verdot included in the blend bring some spice and complexity harmonizing nicely with the clarity of the concentrated dark fruit foundation. Our finest wine yet.

2002 La Grand Vin -

The wine has a firm tannic structure, with plenty of fruite to sustain again. Chocolate, green olive, vanilla, white pepper and smoke notes emerge from an overall black cherry and black berry flavour.
2003 La Grand Vin - Dark in colour, the wine has notes of blueberry and vanilla on the aroma. On the palate, it is a densely textured wine, with flavours of currants, plums, blueberries and spice. The tannins are ripe and chewy but still quite firm, the clue that this wine is built to age well.
2004 La Grand Vin - This is the fourth vintage – and certainly the finest – to be released. This is a generous and dark-hued wine, with inviting red fruit aromas and flavours of plums, black cherries, and chocolate well integrated with oak flavours.

Imperiale (6.0 L) 2002 La Grande Vin

This is a classic Bordeaux blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec. The wine has a firm tannic structure, with plenty of fruite to sustain again. Chocolate, green olive, vanilla, white pepper and smoke notes emerge from an overall black cherry and black berry flavour. The tannins are approachable now but will benefit from additional aging.

Magnum (1.5 L) 2003 La Grande Vin

Dark in colour, the wine has notes of blueberry and vanilla on the aroma. On the palate, it is a densely textured wine, with flavours of currants, plums, blueberries and spice. The tannins are ripe and chewy but still quite firm, the clue that this wine is built to age well. It should be decanted for early drinking. I scored it 88 but I veliece it will grow into the 90s with a few years in the cellar.

2004 La Grande Vin – Collection of Six Bottles

For wine collectors, Le Grand Vin from Osoyoos Larose has emerged as a must-have Canadian red. This is the fourth vintage – and certainly the finest – to be released. The improved refinement of the wine reflects the maturity of the vineyard, where planting began in 1999.

This is a generous and dark-hued wine, with inviting red fruit aromas and flavours of plums, black cherries, and chocolate well integrated with oak flavours (the wine has 18 months in barrels, 60% of which were new, 40% one-year old). The tannins are long and supple but firm enough for reasonable longevity. On the palate, the texture shows excellent concentration. The finish is long and elegant. 92 points.

In the Classic Bordeaux tradition, Osoyoos Larose is pleased to inturduce Petales De Larose, the sister wine to Petales d’Osoyoos. This wine is a deep-coloured, full-bodied blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot. The wine displays aromas and flavours of vanilla, raspberry, chocolate and spice. Velvety smooth tannins and a long lingering finish.

2005 Pinot Noir – Collection of Six Bottles – First Release

Bright ruby in colour, our 2005 Pinot noir presents an enticing bouquet of black pepper, cocoa and cassis. Round tannins frame flavours of cherry, ripe raspberry and red currant, leading to a rich finish of dried strawberry and tobacco notes.

"We had a nicely balanced crop this year at around 3 to 3.5 tonnes per acre. Shoot thinning in May and June helped to balance the vines and berries. We picked the Pinot Noir two separate times, and used berries from three different clones from three separate blocks to build complexity. Pinot Noir consistently performs well on the Home Vineyard in its rocky, calcareous soil."

2005 Black Sage Vineyard Merlot: The resulting wine is rich in flavour with soft velveted tannins . Black currants are evident along with subtle vanilla characteristic derived from the oak ageing.

2005 Black Sage Cabernet Franc: The resulting wine has a distinct full berry and white and black pepper nose. The palate begins with a slight allspice and pepperiness followed by a full tannin structure and a current, blackberry fruit forwardness. The finish goes on and on.

2005 Black Sage Cabernet Sauvignon: The toasted oak and blackberry fruit nose leads to a full, firm tannin structure and filled out with lush cassis, blackberry and nicely integrated oak.

2005 Black Sage Meritage: Aromas of anise, cigar box and leather with bold dark fruit. Abundant firm tannins interlaced with blackberry. Leathery and sweet oak precede a long lingering finish. Decant for 1 hour prior to drinking.

Included in this package is six individually signed bottles of 2005 Super Ego. Super Ego represents the best red wine made from Therapy Vineyards in a given year, as ripe grapes from 3 Bordeaux varieties were hand picked and sorted. All grapes were macerated by hand and vinified separately in small 700kg batches.

Through a rigorous culling process only the best batches of the best varieties were considered for the blend. After 18 months in 70% New French and 30% New American barriques a final blend was chosen. Begin with a bouquet of black Cherries, dried blueberries, violets, mocha, black licorice, rancio and vanilla and finish with a palate that is very full bodied, with plums, dusty oak complexity, rich mid palate and a long drying medium grained tannin finish.

“Futures” Barrel of 2006 Merlot

About 2005 Twisted Tree Merlot - This wine displays the classic merlot nose, with rich aromas of ripe plum, blackberry and cherry highlighted against the complex backdrop of earthy spice and leather notes. The palate follows, with smooth, spicy dark fruit, and malted chocolate and cedar notes. The tannins are soft, well integrated and balanced with the complex ripe fruit. This is an elegant, generous wine with rich and long, spicy finish. This wine was grown in two quality vineyards on the West Bench of Osoyoos Lake. The wine was aged for 15 months in American oak barrels (half neutral, half new) and was bottled in January 2007. 700 cases made.

Twisted Tree Vineyards and Winery was established in 2004 by Chris and Beata Tolley; two former Calgary professionals who decided to turn their love of wine into a way of life and pursue the dream of making great wine in the Southern Okanagan. They completed a comprehensive one year postgraduate degree in Viticulture and Oenology at New Zealand’s Lincoln University, and then ventured back to the Okanagan where they purchased a six acre parcel on the east bench above Lake Osoyoos in early 2004. They planted six noble vinifera varietals on this spectacular hillside site, three reds (Tannat, Tempranillo and Carmenere), and three whites (Viognier, Roussanne, and Marsanne).

The home site planting in 2005 was followed by a 2006 planting on additional three acres of prime vineyard land within a short tractor driving distance away, and will soon be followed by additional 11 acres.

While waiting for their vineyards to mature, Chris and Beata made wine, starting in 2004, from fruit grown in local vineyards. They have had the good fortune to work with growers who take enormous pride in the quality of fruit they produce. Chris and Beata have tried to honor that dedication and commitment to excellence in viticultural practices by adhering to a simple winemaking philosophy based on respecting the individual character of each wine, and encouraging the expression of that character by gentle fruit handling and minimal intervention at each stage of the winemaking process.

The Twisted Tree winemaking facilities have been operational since 2004. The tasting room, with panoramic views of the town and lake of Osoyoos opened in July 2007.

Voluptuous 2004 ~
Full of delight or pleasure to the senses
A delicious blend of 67% Merlot and 33% Cabernet Franc, 100% barrel aged for 18 months in 1/3 new French Oak complete with malolactic fermentation to add complexity. This full-bodied blend shows warm dark fruit aromas of plum, cassis, and blueberry lace with chocolate, vanillin, and spice. A firm palate, mellow ripe tannin structure, and a long toasty finish complete the seduction of the senses.

Vivacious 2005 ~Full of life and spirit
This blend combines tank and barrel fermented sur lie style Pinot Blanc (96%) with a hint of Pinot Gris (4%). A combination of winemaking techniques have been used to produce this blend including barrel and stainless steel fermentation, malolactic fermentation, and stirring of the lees in barrel (sur lie style). Vanillin, toasty French oak, floral and perfume on the nose, with an apple and mineral finish.

Vino Grigio 2005
This Pinot Gris was sourced from our Home Lot Vineyard on Naramata Road. Full treatment in stainless steel from fermentation to bottle unleashes the fruit this wine is respected for. A bouquet rich with apple, melon, fennel and spice with floral notes all around. A full round mid palate with a fresh long fruit finish.
